SmartBoat

( Context )

A digital product for an analogue world. SmartBoat lets owners check the status of their boat at any moment: thanks to IoT, the data from the boat's electronics shows up right on their phone, whether they're on board or miles away.

The challenge

Boating is still an analogue world: owners only really know how their boat is doing when they're standing on deck. SmartSea wanted to bring that information to their pocket, in a way that feels simple to people who aren't tech experts.

02

The approach

We designed around two moments, at sea and on land. The app adapts what it shows to where the owner is, and a continuous onboarding walks each person through setting up their boat and its sensors, step by step.

03

The solution

  • AContinuous onboarding
  • BDifferent views depending on the user's location
  • CLocation service without GPS
  • DIntegration with the boat's electronics through the SmartBoat Box

( Outcome )

Peace of mind for boat owners: the boat's status, always one tap away.
